Peace Leaders of the Future (financed by the EU Central Financing Unit) 30 youngsters in Turkey, Slovakia and Belgium qualify themselves as trainers for a 3-day peace camp in Istanbul with the participation of 80 students. The aim of the project is to facilitate an informed debate on Turkey’s EU integration and the decrease of prejudices in young people’s minds. Partners in the project are the Bogazici University peace studies centre, Istanbul Yeditepe University, the Slovakian Pontis Foundation and AEGEE Brussels. The Black Sea Youth Forum Summit (financed by the German Marshall Fund of the United States) 20 young people, chosen through an essay competition, from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine and Turkey, came together in a 3-day workshop with a public final conference to find solutions to the frozen conflicts in their region. The result was a final Black Sea Youth Forum Summit Declaration, distributed to all relevant institutions. It is ARI Movement’s goal to repeat this project in different countries of the region every year. Media Projects (financed by the EU National Agency) In the period from 2008-2010 ARI is partner to three media projects: Leonardo Life Long Learning, Youth in Action TV and Film Academy. The aim is to establish an intercultural dialogue between the youth of EU member states and neighboring countries through the means of creative media. As a result of this media projects numerous short films in several countries will be created. MATRAKAP – Environmental Leaders of the Future Project The aim of the project is to raise awareness on environmental issues with the participation of youngsters. The project contains of an essay competition launched in Adana and Van, two local conferences with the cooperation of local environmental NGO’s and one final event in Istanbul. The result of the project will be a booklet containing the awarded essays and the outcomes of the conferences. The Youth Participation Project: GENÇ-NET – First launched with IRI in 1999
